We strongly recommend you keep all communication within PropertyLoop and avoid contacting users outside of the platform. We keep personal contact details and addresses hidden until a tenancy agreement is signed in order to discourage this and protect both parties. Even once a tenancy begins, we still encourage users to contact one another through the platform for streamlined communication since all of your messages will already be in one place.
PropertyLoop's messaging system is built for transparency and security, with features that save your conversations all in one place for extra convenience when searching for a message or organizing your inbox. Saving your messages and being able to easily search your inbox eliminates misunderstandings and clarifies communication, protecting you from exploitation. PropertyLoop stores and backs up your messages so you're always covered if something goes wrong. There's no reason someone should ask you to communicate off the platform – if they do so, that might be a sign they have something to hide.
Furthermore, PropertyLoop has features for you to report messages and block users who may send you suspicious messages. We have a dedicated support team to help you identify common scams and investigate fraudulent activity. When you communicate outside the platform, you no longer have protection or recourse against fraud. You lose money protection and it will be difficult to file complaints or get someone to look into the matter. If you contact a user outside the platform, we wouldn't be able to assist you since it would be out of our scope.
